By the age of 21, Canadian singer Tara Mathew had achieved more than most could ever dream of in a lifetime s music career. As a teenager she had won numerous respected awards and aged only 15 she was selected to sing the opening song at Canada s most prestigious national event, The Canada Games, following which her songs were constantly broadcast on national TV and radio.

Tara also became a Musical Ambassador for the Canadian Government, which led to her performing at VIP events across the US, Mexico and Canada. She sang at Canada s parliamentary building for the Governor General of Canada and she even shared the same stage as Celine Dion at the Pan-American games performing to an audience of 80,000 people.

Despite graduating from one of Canada s leading music universities with the highest mark awarded in 40 years for vocals, she decided to take a sabbatical before committing herself to a career in classical music and volunteered to do charity work in India. To her surprise she fell in love with this work and new country and for the next 5 years she lived in India working across a range of projects from caring for people in the slums with AIDS and leprosy to running a coffee bar youth project in Bangalore.

Whilst in India Tara kept her musical interests alive by touring with her own band, but the pinnacle of this was her solo performance at Asia s biggest televised Christmas event, Gloria Deo where she was seen by a UK label boss, who immediately offered her a recording contract, which led to her moving to England to record an album.

Since her arrival in the UK, Tara has sung to thousands at a packed Exeter City FC stadium and performed live across the country on BBC Radio appearing on shows in Birmingham, Manchester, Lancashire, Liverpool, Cornwall and Devon. She has also appeared a number of times on TV, performed at prestigious venues such as celeb s favourites, Chinawhite in the West End, Mayfair s Embassy club as well as the BBC Club and at recent festivals supported Lulu and Rick Astley. Along with this she has recently enjoyed the success of her last single, He Said She Said , which was remixed by dance wizards, Almighty and proved to be a big hit in the clubs throughout the UK.

She has also been featured on the ITV news where she sang live along with extracts of her videos being shown. The press has also caught the buzz and she has appeared on the cover of two national magazines and been featured in several others, including Music Week, The Star, Pick Me Up, Full House, The Weekly News, etc.

And with a vocal range often compared to Mariah Carey, legendary Top Of The Pops producer, Chris Cowey was quoted in Music Week saying:

"What a stunning voice Tara Mathew has. When you hear her live, the classical training that she has had really shines through big time. The new single really demonstrates her vocal range which is over 5 octaves! Incredible."

Tara enjoys extensive media coverage both on the internet and in the press including many national publications as can be seen below!
